ASOS trialling new feature to let customers view items on different body shapes

Sarah Finnan

Love may be a battlefield, but online shopping is a minefield.

Imagine the following scenario.

You’re browsing online, spend ages picking out a to-die-for outfit, order it and wait patiently for it to arrive.

Only to put it on and realise that it looks nothing like it did on the website – for whatever reason. We’ve all been there.

While there’s a lot to be said for shopping from the comfort of your bed (no crowds, no queues, no hassle), the luxury of trying on what you’re about to buy is something that online shopping falls short on.

Items vary on different body shapes, skin tones, heights, etc. and it’s very hard to tell from just one picture whether an item is going to suit you.

ASOS has answered our prayers and is addressing our daily struggle with their new ‘see my fit’ feature. Running on a trial basis, the feature lets customers see selected items on various different models (of all different heights and sizes).

A collaboration with Zeekit, an Israeli AR (augmented reality) company, the feature can only be used on desktop and on a selected number of items.

Simply go to the ‘see my fit’ section (search it in the search bar if you can’t find it), click on the item you’re interested in and look for the ‘models’ tab to the left of the image.

The images are digitally created, as opposed to real-life photos, but they definitely give you a more well-rounded view of an item.

Fair play ASOS, what a time to be alive.
