IRISH MADE: This Stunning Irish Jewellery Brand Needs To Be On Your Radar For 2019

Éadaoin Fitzmaurice

Finding the perfect jewellery is like finding a soul mate – it will stay with you forever.

I adore adding pieces to my collection, it’s a small one but everything in it holds its own story or memory.

On my hands I wear four rings – one for each of the women in my bloodline. I have a ring that belonged to grandmother, one that my mother got for her 14th birthday and passed onto me on mine, one that was gifted to me by my sister and most recently, one that I bought to honour my other grandmother.

Picking such a ring takes time, this is something I usually spot scrolling through the web and spend months saving for. This one however, came as a bit of a surprise. Of course, I was looking out for one but it wasn’t until I ran into the bubbly Cara Sturgess at a Christmas craft fair that I knew I had found the one.

You all know by now that buying from Irish brands is very important to me and something I’m trying to do as much as possible.

That’s why I’ve set up this weekly series Irish Made.

Each week, I’ll be showcasing an Irish brand that I’m lovin’ and keeping you up to date with the latest trends.

This week it’s all about Loinnir Jewellery.

Loinnir, coming from the Irish word ‘radiance’ is one of the most beautiful jewellery lines I’ve come across.

The pieces are inspired by Irish heritage and culture and have a contemporary flair.

Creator, Cara Sturgess won 2015 ‘Best Idea’ of Ireland Best Young Entrepreneur in the Leo Fingal Region and has set up her own studio in Dublin. One of the best things about buying Irish is that you can meet the designer. Cara is someone I was instantly drawn to for her friendly smile, chit chatter and humbleness – that and her insane talent, of course.

Cara’s handmade pieces depict the scenic landscapes, rich heritage and legends of Ireland in a new contemporary light.

Every piece has its own story to tell and it’s own piece of Ireland.
