The Bank Holiday is upon us and while the weather isn’t ideal, there’s still plenty of options for three or four days of fun.

If you’re stuck for ideas, there are a range of events taking place around the country. From music festivals, to comedy shows to refreshing walks, everyone’s needs will be catered for by the following list.

Hooked On The Sea

Taking place at Hook Lighthouse in Wexford, the event feature will feature a pirate ship, a BBQ and plenty of entertainment.

If it all sounds a bit too family-oriented for your liking, there will also be a drinks reception with craft beers as well as a guided tour of the lighthouse.

 

Live At The Docklands

Limerick will be abuzz this weekend when this music festival takes place on Dock Road in the city.

Presented by much-loved venue Dolan’s, the line-up includes Madness, Jenny Greene as well The Coronas, who will wrap things up on Sunday.

Cat Laughs

The annual giggle-fest kicked off on Thursday and will continue until Bank Holiday Monday.

While a lot of the major acts will be sold out, it’s still worth heading towards the city to see what you can pick up.

With some of Ireland’s finest comedians on show, the mood will be a happy one with permanent grins on everyone’s faces.

Cork Harbour Festival

Ireland’s biggest maritime celebration gets underway this weekend, kicking off nine whole days of festivites.

There will be plenty of free events and visitors will be able to feast their eyes on Chinese dragon boats, kayaks and paddle boards throughout this colourful celebration of the sea.

A high-speed evening harbour tour will be the perfect way to wrap up your day.

Burrishoole Walking Festival, Co. Mayo

For those looking to toast the Bank Holiday with a large serving of fresh air.

Local guides will take you through the Nephin Beg mountains, where you will be met with stunning views of Clew Bay and Croagh Patrick.
