Here’s How To Avoid Being Added To Groups In WhatsApp’s New Update

James Fenton

Are you that person on WhatsApp who rolls their eyes while everyone else inundates the group with gifs and memes? Prefer to do your social interacting in real life? Well, it appears you’re in luck.

WhatsApp’s latest update means that users will be able to refuse to be added to a group, potentially putting an end to all those annoying chats with college peeps who you’ll never ever see again.

The new function means that you can block group messages from people who aren’t in your phone contacts, meaning that weirdo you’ve never met in the stag or hen group won’t be bothering you anymore.

The update also allows you to prevent anyone, including those in your contacts, from adding you to groups without asking your permission first. You can even give your best pal the elbow and they’re hardly going to hold a grudge, are they?

All you have to do is head to ‘accounts>privacy>groups’ in your settings and then choose to receive group messages from nobody, contacts or everyone. Simples. Keep in mind though that it may take some time for the update to appear on some phones.

An absolute game changer. Be sure to share this information in all your WhatsApp groups, before its too late.
