Indulge in a hotel ‘Black Friday’ deal to tide you over to Christmas

Sarah Finnan

Hotel stays are always that much sweeter when you can get them at a discount.

Black Friday, the informal name given to the day after Thanksgiving, has become somewhat of a phenomenon in recent years.

Everyone is on the hunt for bargains, hoping to get their Christmas haul for half the price.

I, however, usually have my eye on travel deals. There are bucketloads to choose from and it’s a great excuse to up and visit a part of the country that you may not have given a second thought to otherwise.

Here are some of the offers worth considering.

Bridge House Tullamore

A four-star hotel in Tullamore, this is funnily enough where I had my debs way back in the day. Book a midweek escape (from Sunday to Thursday) and you can get it for just €50 a night.

Full Irish breakfast and access to the hotel’s leisure facilities too– complete with pool, sauna, steam room and outdoor hot tub. €50 more will get you dinner for two in the onsite restaurant.

Muckross Park Hotel Spa Killarney

One of The Kingdom’s finest five-star establishments, the award-winning hotel is giving guests 25 per cent off their best available room rates.

Running from 5pm on Thursday 28th until 11:59pm on Friday 29th, the offer is valid on all bed and breakfast rates and apartment rates for stays until the end of April 2020.

Clontarf Castle Hotel, Clontarf

The only other hotel on the list that I’ve visited, so I can confirm that the grounds are absolutely stunning. A restored 12th-century castle, it’s every bit as luxurious as you’d imagine.

They’ll be giving 10 per cent off voucher experiences for Black Friday and Cyber Monday as well as 10 per cent off their famous Fusion Afternoon Tea. Just a stone’s throw away from the water too, perfect for an afternoon stroll or to watch the sunset.

Cliff House Hotel – Waterford

The Cliff House Hotel, (with other CLIFF Group branches in both the Cliff Townhouse in Dublin and the CLiff at Lyons in Kildare ), is giving a 10 per cent discount on Cliff package vouchers and experiences valued at €100.

These cover everything from bed & breakfast escapes to spa breaks. Running from midnight on November 27th until midnight on December 2nd. A relaxing spa day before Christmas sounds ideal.

Castleknock Hotel, Dublin

Near to the city but also far enough away for it to still feel like an escape, the Castleknock Hotel offers the best of both worlds.

Their Black Friday deal will get you 30 per cent off rates for January, February and March of next year.

Carton House

A firm favourite for golf enthusiasts, the gorgeous surroundings make sure everyone is kept happy. Consisting of just over 1,000 acres of land, it’s the place to go if you want to get out in nature.

Located about a half-hour drive outside of Dublin, the property consists of the historic mansion, two championship golf courses, three eateries and a spa amongst other things. Black Friday will see Carton House offer 30 per cent off selected packages and gift cards.

Farnham Estate

Described as “one of the most relaxing spa resorts in Ireland”, how could you not want to book a trip there immediately? Also, a popular golfing resort, they’re offering 30 per cent off of their best available bed & breakfast rates.

That comes with a €10 spa credit, a €10 dining credit, a €10 golf credit and a fiver afternoon tea credit per person to enjoy too. Sounds like a pretty sweet deal.

Radisson Blu Hotel – Athlone, Cork, Limerick, Sligo

Found in Athlone, Cork, Limerick and Sligo, the Radisson Blu will be giving guests 25 per cent off with their seasonal sale. Valid on midweek stays as well as weekend stays in 2020.

With branches dotted across the country, all you have to do is pick a spot and be on your merry way. The Cork, Limerick and Sligo hotels are equipped with spas too.
