Ireland’s best vegan-friendly wedding venues revealed, for the month that’s in it

There’s some beautiful venues to choose from here.

Given that it’s Veganuary, we’re revisiting the list wedding website Save My Day put together of Ireland’s best vegan friendly wedding venues. Finding vegan friendly spots can be tricky; I’ve personally never been to a wedding that offered many plant-based options, but as veganism becomes more popular, it’s only natural more couples would want to have their special day somewhere that is accommodating.

The Barn at Hotel Doolin

Location: Clare

Based in Doolin, County Clare, The Barn at Hotel Doolin can host between 60 and 300 guests. They have a ‘Vegan Ever After’ wedding package for couples who have transitioned to a vegan lifestyle, which includes a gourmet vegan buffet, vegan wedding cake, vegan ice-cream cart and even free flowing vegan wine.

Dunowen House

Location: Cork 

Dunowen House is based in Clonakilty, and is perfect for smaller ceremonies, with the capacity for just 30 guests. They produce the majority of their food within their own gardens and have a great vegan menu.

Ballintubbert Gardens and House

Location: Laois

You can find Ballintubbert Gardens and House in Stradbally, where they can accommodate up to 220 guests. This award-winning venue caters for vegan curated wedding feasts including breaded oyster and portobello mushrooms with vegan tarragon mayonnaise, beetroot risotto with grated horseradish and micro basil, whole roast cauliflower with beetroot coconut and lime sauce and smoked almonds, and dark chocolate and miso brownies

Fallon & Byrne

Location: Dublin

At Fallon & Byrne, they work with several suppliers to cater for all dietary requirements; menus are designed with our guests in mind and vegan and vegetarian menus are more popular than ever. Some of their vegan dishes include Sweet Potato and Lentil Wellington, Jerusalem Artichoke Risotto Cake and Harissa Spiced Carrots and Lentils.

Roberta’s Bar and Restaurant

Location: Dublin

Whether you’re sticking to an intimate 80 or an extravagant 300 guests, Roberta’s in Temple Bar has full vegan wedding menus; their chef caters for all dietary requirements and tailors menus to couples upon request.

The Dean

Location: Dublin 

This well known spot won Ireland’s Best Boutique Hotel Wedding Venue at the SaveMyDay.ie Irish Wedding Venue Awards 2021 and can host up to 120 guests. The Dean serves vegan guests sweet potato and avocado bites, beetroot and sundried tomato filo tarts, spinach and pimento gnocchi, caramelised apple and pear with nut crumble and vegan ice cream, and many more plant-based choices on their full vegan wedding menu.

Medley

Location: Dublin 

Another wedding venue based in Dublin’s city centre with great vegan options is Medley, with chef Andrew Rudd at the helm. They have the capacity for between 50 and 200 guests, and Rudd focuses on international cuisine when it comes to his menus.

The Woollen Mills

Location: Dublin 

The Woollen Mills allows for up to 80 guests, and is located beside the famous Ha’penny Bridge, a stunning backdrop for a wedding party. Their menu has vegan dishes such as maple winter salad, jerk cauliflower steak, Korean black bean burger and a vegan sorbet selection.

MoLi

Location: Dublin 

This Dublin 2 spot won Ireland’s Best Cultural Wedding Venue at the SaveMyDay.ie Irish Wedding Venue Awards 2021 and is a beautiful historic venue. The Museum of Literature serves a vegan wedding menu options including roasted portobello mushrooms with a spiced ratatouille and red pepper coulis, and avocado and cocoa mousse.

The Angler’s Rest

Location: Dublin 

This landmark Dublin venue’s vegan dishes include celeriac and coconut soup with truffle oil drizzle, spicy leek and sweet potato curry, and spiced poached pear with a rich chocolate sauce. They’re based in Dublin 15 and can host up to 150 guests.

No. 25 Fitzwilliam Place

Location: Dublin 

No. 25 Fitzwilliam Place won Ireland’s Best Intimate Hotel Wedding Venue at the SaveMyDay.ie Irish Wedding Venue Awards 2021, with a maximum capacity of 60 people. They are able to cater for both vegetarian and vegan diets.

The Wicklow Escape

Location: Wicklow 

With space for just 18 to 50 guests, The Wicklow Escape in Donard was also the winner of Best Eco Friendly Wedding Venue in 2021. Their seasonal fully plant based menus are designed for guests who prefer meat, dairy, gluten free.

Rathsallagh Country House

Location: Wicklow 

Rathsallagh is a spectacular 17th century country house set on 500 acres of rolling fields, thousands of mature trees and a long winding avenue ensuring complete privacy on weddings days. Rathsallagh’s delicious vegan wedding canapés include vegan arancini, caprese bruschetta, roasted vegetable pâté, hummus and vegetables, and cep porcini custard tartlets. They are able to host up to 250 guests.

Kilronan Castle Estate

Location: Roscommon 

If you have a big wedding party, or just a desire to get married in a castle, then Kilronan is for you; they can host up to 380 people on-site. They are also a great vegan venue, with dishes such as pear walnut and pickled celery salad, avocado and apple tian, rainbow beetroot and barley, and black curried risotto.

Langton’s Hotel

Location: Kilkenny 

Winner of Save My Day’s award for Ireland’s Best Large Hotel Wedding Venue, this Kilkenny spot also has a great vegan menu available, which serves a variety of delicious options including edamame bean and sweet potato croquette, roast winter vegetable tagine and ‘The Bridies Bar’ snickers with is a peanut and caramel roll with caramel sauce, peanut brittle. You can have up to 342 guests at Langton’s Hotel as well.

Mountain View

Location: Kilkenny 

Mountain View is private to the couple and their guests on their big day and can provide newly-weds with everything from meat free canapés, banquets and desserts, all topped off with their vegan wine list. They host anywhere between 50 and 250 people.

Lawlor’s of Naas

Location: Kildare

If you have 420 friends and family you need to invite to your wedding, it’s got to be Lawlor’s of Naas. Out of those 420 there’s bound to be a few vegans in there; which is why it’s great they’re also vegan friendly. This wedding venue tailors its food, making adjustments to suit dietary requirements much easier.

Conyngham Arms Hotel

Location: Meath

This Slane wedding venue has 15 bedrooms onsite, and can host up to 150 guests. Menu highlights include Grilled Tofu with spicy satay sauce, Chickpea and Butternut Squash Curry, Grilled Aubergine in tomato sauce and Potato Cake, and Fruit Terrine Layer with coconut puree served with sorbet.

The Lawrence Hotel

Location: Meath

Not only is the Lawrence Hotel vegan friendly, they’re dog friendly; meaning your pup is very much welcome to your nuptials here. They cater for vegan  options with their mission being to provide locally sourced seasonal flavoursome food in the heart of Athboy, Co, Meath.

Jack’s Coastguard Restaurant

Location: Kerry

Voted as Ireland’s best waterside wedding venue, Jack’s Coastguard Restaurant is also able to cater for vegan diets, or whatever the couple want for their day.

10 Bridge Street

Location: Kerry

10 Bridge Street takes the cake as Ireland’s best restaurant wedding venue and wedding menus are tailored for each couple, making them vegan friendly as well.

Breckenhill

Location: Antrim 

Breckenhill is a beautiful private wedding venue that centres around two barn venues; the lovingly restored 18th century Stone Barn and the larger space of the Green Barn. When hosting your wedding at Breckenhill, you work with local external caterers and all of the venue’s recommended suppliers offer vegan alternatives. They can host up to 15o guests.
