8 last minute gifts for when you don’t want to go traipsing around the shops

Katy Thornton

Contrary to popular belief, there is nothing wrong with getting a voucher instead of a physical gift.

For better or worse, we are a species who procrastinate. The more important and timely something is, the more likely we will put it off until the day before. While it can be easy to just get through some things, getting last minute gifts on Christmas Eve can be a huge pain.

That’s why we’ve put together a list of some great presents that you can easily get over the internet. No one is ever to know you did it the day before Christmas.

1. Spa Vouchers

If you’re a bit late getting a present for your mum, girlfriend, boyfriend then why not gift them a massage. Spas.ie have tons of treatments available, and will give your loved one that TLC they’ve been needing all year.

2. Game of Thrones Studio Tour

If you know a massive Game of Thrones lover, who constantly references the show, or someone who really got into House of the Dragon, then this could be the perfect gift. A brand new studio tour launched in February of last year in Banbridge and it’s sure to excite any GOT fanatic! Get tickets here.

3. Irish Skydive

For the adrenalin junkie in your life, put them to the test by gifting them a skydive. Irish Parachute Club in Offaly do vouchers, or you can take the plunge and book a skydive straight in for your loved one (although full disclaimer, this is in no way a hint to any of my family or friends buying for me this Christmas).

4. Dublin Cookery School

Dublin Cookery School are offering vouchers and classes for the foodies who want to become the chef themselves, one of the best last minute gifts you can give.

5. Bord Gáis Energy Theatre Voucher

Give the gift of theatre to a loved one this year. The Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is known to host some of the most incredible shows about, and 2023 is already looking to be promising. Coming next year is Wicked, Hamilton, Sister Act, Aladdin, Grease and many more. You can check out all the upcoming 2024 shows HERE.

6. Wexford Seal Tour

We all have that friend who would literally throw themselves in front of a car for an animal. For them, why not book them in to see the seals at Seal Rescue Ireland? It will surely get the seal of approval from your loved one, and as someone who has done the experience themselves, I can honestly say it was well worth it.

If the full experience is out of the price range, why not just adopt them a seal? You get frequent updates on how your seal is recovering, and you get a final video of their release back into the sea when the time is right.

7. Festival Tickets

Despite being in the depths of winter, the Irish music festivals are one by one beginning to release their line-ups. Nelly Furtado is headlining Forbidden Fruit, Jungle and Jessie Ware will be at Beyond The Pale, and The National and Jorja Smith will feature at All Together Now over the August bank holiday weekend.

The hip and cool music lover in your life would be dying to get a ticket for one of these gigs we’re sure – and with many of them likely to sell out, why stall on purchasing?

8. Fota Island

Another one for the animal lovers. Fota Wildlife Park is a winner no matter the age you’re buying for.

We hope one of these last minute gifts will be suitable for that person (or people) you forgot to buy for. We’d honestly be stoked with a festival ticket, or a trip to see the seals. Maybe make sure your mate is a real daredevil before booking in skydiving though.
