Mayo GAA Has A Brand New And Really Famous Hollywood Celebrity Fan

Darragh Berry

It’s not like anyone’s counting… but it’s been over 24,000 days since Mayo lifted Sam Maguire when they beat Meath in September 1951.

They have not won the cup since despite being in finals in ’89, 1996, 1997, 2004, 2006, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017.

Jamie Dornan may be ‘Freed’ after his latest Fifty Shades movie but the poor fecker will always be trapped as long as he supports Mayo GAA.

In a brand new and exciting Irish podcast titled ‘Before Brunch’ which has taken the country by storm, the actor recently hopped on the Mayo For Sam bandwagon along with everyone else.

Speaking about his new favourite team, host Megan Cassidy explains that in order to get Dornan’s attention at a press conference once, she had to ask him about his footballing pleasure:

“There was a Mayo vs Dublin match that particular weekend in GAA and I shouted to him, ‘Dublin or Mayo’.

“He seemed to not answer me and walk on and I thought to myself ‘I shouted that really loud in front of everyone and I didn’t get an answer’ and then it settled in his brain and he turned around like really slowly, looked me in the eye and said ‘Mayo’.”

Before Brunch’s first episode is now live and is currently resting at number two in the Irish charts.
