Mayo pub on the hunt for missing part of famous clock after recent bad weather

Sarah Finnan

Staff at Mellett’s Emporium in Swinford have asked the public to keep an eye out for a missing piece of the well-worn clock to be seen on the exterior of the Mayo pub.

Saying that it’s probably “a very long shot”, staff at Mellett’s Emporium took to Twitter to ask for the public’s help in locating the small hand of the famous clock that can be seen outside the pub. Misplaced during a recent bout of bad weather, owners are hopeful that someone will spot it.

“A very long shot but the small hand of our clock must have blown off in the storm on Friday. If anyone nearby finds it we’d be eternally grateful to get it back.”

I know the advice is usually to keep your eyes up as you walk, but might be no harm throwing a glance at your feet every now and then should you find yourself in the vicinity of the popular Mayo pub.
