When tourists think of Ireland they tend to imagine rolling green hills, pints of Guinness and castles all over the country.
We do indeed have loads of castles but it probably doesn’t enter our minds, as Irish people, to go rent one and stay there.
We’ve put together a list of five of the very best in different shapes and sizes and as you can see, although not the cheapest holiday ever, they are affordable if you get a large group.
Something you have to do at least once in your life…
1. Killahara Castle
Near Thurles in Co. Tipperary this place will set you back €900 a night.
It comes with seven bedrooms and sleeps 12 guests so it works out at about €75 a night each.
Just make sure that you can fit in through those little doors!
2. Ballyhannon Castle, Near Quin, Co. Clare
Super high end castle that has four bedrooms that sleep eight people so perfect for a group of couples or family getaway.
It’ll cost you €1150 a night but as you can see it is like a fairytale on the inside so well worth it.
3. Ballyporty Castle – Co. Clare
The perfect place to base yourself to see the wonderful Burren.
It has six bedrooms and sleeps up to eight people and if you rent it for a week (sure why not) it will only cost you €2400.
An amazing experience that has to be tried to be believed.
4. Ballinlough Castle – near Mullingar
This stunning castle is just an hours drive from Dublin and it sleeps 18 people in their nine stunning bedrooms.
It does cost €3500 a night which sounds like a lot but if you get 17 friends thats less than €200 a night each so worth it for a very, very special occasion.
5. Lismore Castle – Waterford
Ok, so this isn’t on the affordable side of things coming in at €8000 a night but it does sleep up to 23 people so it is doable if you put your mind to it, saved up and it was a very special occasion!
Like a wedding perhaps?
