The Average Age Of Irish Brides And Grooms In 2018 Has Been Revealed

The average age of an Irish groom in an opposite-sex marriage in 2018 was 36.4, according to new figures released by the Central Statistics Office.

The report was released today and revealed that the average age of a bride in an opposite-sex marriage was 34.4 years. In relation to same-sex marriages, the average age for a man was 40.1 years while the average age for a woman in a same-sex marriage was 38.7.

In total, there were 21,053 marriages in Ireland in 2019, including 664 same-sex marriages. 28.7% of opposite-sex couple chose a civil ceremony with this figure reading 62.8% for same-sex marriages.

Unsurprisingly, the most popular months for ceremonies were June, July and August while the least popular were January and February.
