These are the six finalists for Ireland’s ‘Most Christmassy Home’ award

James Fenton

For those that are feeling smug about putting up their Christmas tree over the weekend, the nominees for Ireland’s most Christmassy home are sure to bring you back down to earth.

The six finalists are spread across the country with Dublin, Roscommon and Wexford all represented while Limerick has outdone itself with three nominations this year. The competition is run by Energia and head of marketing & retail development Geoff Codd was full of praise for all of the entrants, saying: “We received some incredible competition entries from all over Ireland this year. It made it very difficult to shortlist just six homes. The effort and festive spirit evident in all entries is a mark of how popular the competition has become and we are delighted to have the opportunity to support local causes and charities.”

Voting is now open and all you have to do is pick your favourite and text HOUSE followed by a space and the entry number to 51155 in ROI or 88101 in Northern Ireland. For example, if this effort from Tony Noonan in Limerick impresses you, text HOUSE 1…

Sean White from Dublin is HOUSE 2…

HOUSE 3 is Seamus Staunton from Roscommon…

Text HOUSE 4 for Tony Fitzpatrick from Wexford…

Cormac Hayes from Limerick is HOUSE 5…

And finally, if you reckon Kevin and Lorainne Lynch from Limerick deserve the prize, text HOUSE 6…

The prizes for the winners are a donation of €3,000, €2,000 and €1,000 to a charity of choice for first, second and third place respectively. An amazing initiative it has to be said and one which is putting everyone else’s decoration attempts to shame.

Voting closes on Tuesday, December 17 with the winners announced on Friday, December 20. More information can be found here.
