This Is Now The Average Age Of A First Time Mother In Ireland

The average age of a first time mother in Ireland has increased 0.3 years since this time last year.

New figures released by the Central Statistics Office yesterday reveal that age of first time mothers in Ireland was 31.1 years on average for the months April – June 2017. 

In total, there were 15,222 births during this period compared to 16,219 at the same time in 2016. 

Dublin City accounted for the most births in the country with 1,704 followed by Cork County with 1,433 and Fingal with 1,183. The fewest number of births were recorded in Leitrim with 93.
