‘Very proud day’ Kerry-based chef serves Taoiseach 11 years after coming to Ireland as a refugee

Katy Thornton

Chef at The Real Burger in Killorglin takes to Facebook to express his pride in serving our Taoiseach.

It was a proud day for Mohammed Anzy as he served Taoiseach Micheál Martin at Real Burger yesterday, 7th February, after coming to Ireland in 2011 as a refugee.

He took to the Real Burger Facebook page to express his pride.

The caption states:

7/2/2011

I come as refugee

7/2/2022

I cook for Irish Taoiseach

A very proud day

Mr Mohammed Anzy”
On the very same date he arrived in Ireland, 11 years earlier, Mohammend Anzy of Real Burger, or Momo as he is referred to online, served Micheál Martin at his restaurant in 2022.
In 2015, Real Burger won an award from The Journal for one of the best burger spots in Irealand. It was also nominated for the Restaurant Association’s Best Casual Dining Award in 2016. Real Burger is a Killorglin staple, located on Langford Street. A must try burger spot if you’re visiting Kerry, Micheál Martin certainly thinks so. You can check out the menu HERE.
