WATCH: Claire Bryne wedding segment sparks debate on the use of bridal masks

James Fenton

Claire Byrne has been dealing with a lot of dummies in recent weeks as she attempts to inform the public what life will be like post-pandemic.

Last week, we got a glimpse into an Irish pub of the future and this week, Claire attempted to describe what air travel could be like from this summer onwards with the help of some of her inanimate friends…

Another topic that is on a lot of people’s minds at the moment is weddings. While a large proportion of couples who were due to tie the knot this side of autumn have already made alternative arrangments, the fate of weddings planned for later in the year are a bit more uncertain.

Last night, Claire spoke to Diana Lupascu of Angelo Bridal on Dublin’s Dorset Street who has created face masks that will match the chosen wedding gowns of brides in the near future.

Three mannequins proudly displayed the face coverings as Diana explained that many people have been enquiring about the products as a means of protecting themselves and others on their big day.

Wedding planner Tara Fay was also on hand to state that she doesn’t see many Irish brides going for the look even if it has become increasingly popular in places like New York.

Tara also gave plenty of tips to those who have weddings planned for later in the year such as possibly reducing the number of guests and even having a “small party now and a big party later”, if certain social distancing measures remain in place.

Many people in the comments weren’t sure about the masks but no one knows what the Covid-19 regulations are going to look like a few months down the line. For many, it will also be good to have the option to wear one.

Have a look at Claire Byrne’s wedding segment below and let us know what you think…
