711 Million Emails And Passwords Have Been Leaked Online – Here’s What You Need To Know

The passwords to over 711m email address have been leaked online in one of the biggest data breaches in history.

The leak took place when a spambot failed to secure one of their servers, allowing anyone to download gigabytes of their information.

It was exposed by Australian computer security expert Troy Hunt of Have I Been Pwned site, who explained the scale of the breach.

“The one I’m writing about today is 711m records, which makes it the largest single set of data I’ve ever loaded into HIBP. Just for a sense of scale, that’s almost one address for every single man, woman and child in all of Europe.”
