Fair play.

A 17 year old hailing from Westmeath is set to be the next big thing in the modelling industry.

Sonny Drummond has been scouted by top model management agency Elite after he attended Longitude Music Festival back in July, and now he’s hitting the runway.

Now only five months later, the student modelled for Dior at the Great Pyramid of Giza in Egypt as the fashion house put on one of their biggest shows yet.

Being one of the 75 men chosen for the show, it marked the 75th anniversary of the brand being founded.

Speaking to the Irish Times, the Athlone Community College student said he remembered being picked for the show as “the most insane news for me, and weird to have this incredible opportunity randomly landed on you.”

After meeting Lewis Hamilton and Kate Moss’s daughter Lila Grace at the show, he said Lila “was very nice and interested to know I was from Ireland. Lots of the models said they had never met an Irish model.”

Now hoping to be cast again for Dior’s menswear shows in Paris in January, he’s not “letting it unfocus me” as he aims to finish his school work.

Currently in fifth year, the GAA player has a love for English and history, as well as philosophy, film and drama. And it’s not surprising considering his father is he painter Blaise Drummond and his maternal grandfather is Paul Durcan.
