A man was shot up to four times last night in an attack in Stamullen, Co. Meath.
The Irish Independent reports that Tony Mullen, the victim, was ambushed by a gunman around 7pm.
He was shot in the driveway of his house.
It’s understood the gun was fired at least seven times, with four of the shots injuring Mr. Mullen.
The victim was brought to Our Lady’s Hospital, Drogheda.
It’s believed he is in a serious condition.
The motive for the shooting is unclear at the moment, and Gardaí are investigating several possible avenues, including mistaken identity.
This is the third attack in the area in recent years, following a shooting in a similar area last September.
