A new island off the coast of Finland will be a strictly girls-only paradise.
The New York Post reported that the founder of SuperShe island, American entrepreneur Kristina Roth, wanted to create a place solely for women where they can book in for a day-long, or a week-long stay.
The purpose of a stay on the island would be to focus on health and wellness.
Roth was inspired to do so after taking a few relaxing holidays in California, and realising that there wasn’t anywhere women could go without the presence of men.Â
She told the paper: “When there was a cute guy, women would put on lipstick.”
“The idea [at SuperShe island] is, hey, focus on yourself — don’t try to get your hormones up.”
The island resort is set to open this summer, but anyone interested must apply for ‘exclusive membership’ before it opens.
Roth said that she will vet interested people in a way that requires current members to vouch for applicants.
She said: “I’d like to vet the person and see that they’re well-rounded and would fit in, but I don’t want to be elitist.”
Despite creating a female-only island, Roth said she is not a ‘man-hater’, and she would consider extending the offer to men in the future.Â
