Police have warned civilians that a black panther has reportedly been spotted roaming around the city of Newry in County Down.
According to the Irish Independent, the PSNI said it had been contacted about “a large black cat, possibly a panther” in the Northern Ireland city.
On the PSNI’s Newry and Mourne Facebook page, it said:
“On June 16, 2017 at 11am Police received a report of what has been described as a large black cat, possibly a panther, sighted in the Moneymore Road area of Newry!
If you do see an animal matching this description can you contact Police immediately and reference serial number 381 16/06/17. DO NOT APPROACH!”
If you do spot the large cat, make sure to phone the PSNI Newry and Mourne branch’s emergency line: 101.
