A Passenger Has Died On Diverted Transatlantic Flight To Shannon

A female passenger has died on a flight which was forced to divert to Shannon Airport yesterday evening.

The Irish Independent report that the Air Canada flight AC-849 from London’s Heathrow Airport was on its way to Toronto in Canada when flight crew declared a medical emergency and the plane was forced to divert to Shannon airport.

The plane was only about and hour into its journey when the elderly woman took ill.

Cabin crew members battled to resuscitate her, and when the flight landed at  5.15pm it met by airport emergency services and paramedics.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The flight continued its journey on to Toronto about two hours after landing at Shannon.
