WATCH: An Audacious League Of Ireland Goal Is Being Shared Around The World

James Fenton

Over the weekend, Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale stunned global audiences with a magnificent overhead goal in his side’s Champions League Final victory over Liverpool.

While the Welshman’s effort left millions of jaws on the floor, a similarly absurd goal was scored right here in Ireland on Friday night. With just minutes remaining in the League Of Ireland Premier Division clash between St. Patrick’s Athletic and Cork City in Inchicore, the visitors held a 2-1 lead.

As a last throw of the dice, Pat’s goalkeeper Tyson Farago ventured forward for a corner, leaving his net exposed. However, the ball bounced out to Cork’s Kieran Sadlier who audaciously blasted the ball towards the Pat’s goal from his OWN box before it remarkably rolled into the net, clinching a 3-1 victory for the Rebel Army.

The clip has gained a bit of traction on Twitter and was even shared by the official account of international football’s governing body FIFA…

The footage was posted by RTÉ Sport yesterday ahead of tonight’s Soccer Republic show which gets underway on RTÉ 2 at 10.45pm. If you’re unable to wait that long, you can see Sadlier’s magnificent strike, which was his second goal of the game, below.

Take a bow, son. Take a bow.
