Bad News For Bacon Lovers - Your Morning Treat Could Send You To An Early Grave
At least we'll die happy!
When it comes to food, there's nothing we love more than bacon.
Getting the scent of bacon sizzling in a pan when you wake in the morning is one of life's greatest pleasures but a new study could make you think twice before tucking into a porky morning feast.
According to the Irish Mirror, The Journal Of Internal Medicine has found that eating three rashers per day could put your health at risk, raises the risk of dying from cardiovascular disease by 24 per cent.
It also increases your chances of dying from cancer by eight per cent and raises the risk of pancreatic (19 per cent), bowel (18 per cent), breast (nine per cent) and prostate tumours (four per cent).
The same goes for two slices of ham daily so even the traditional toastie isn't a safe bet anymore!
“Overall it’s plausible to conclude - taking into account the available scientific evidence - that high consumption of red meat and especially processed meat is associated with the increased risk of several major chronic diseases and preterm mortality," said Professor Alicja Wolk of the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm.
Well, that's Tuesday ruined. Sorry guys.
