Here Is A List Of The Best Secondary Schools In Ireland

The best years of your life, or so they say.

The Sunday Independent has released a list of the top performing schools around the country.

The School League Tables contains exclusive analysis of nine years of results from over 700 schools.

Only six schools in the country are part of the 100% club. This club contains schools with a perfect record when it comes the percentage of students placed in third level education from 2009-2017.

They are:

  • Presentation College, Mardyke, Cork
  • Mount Anville Schools, Goatstown, Dublin 14
  • Colaiste Iosagain, Stillorgan, Dublin
  • Cistercian College, Roscrea, Tipperary
  • St. Mary’s College, Rathmines, Dublin 6

It also contains a list of the most improved schools from around the country. This list shows a group of schools that dragged their improvements ratings up from 50s and 60 percentages in 2009 to 100% in 2017.

They are:

  • Colaiste Na Sionna, Banagher College, Offaly
  • Colaiste Mhuire, Ballygar, Galway
  • Mountmellick Community School, Laois
  • Colaiste Eoin, Hacketstown, Carlow
  • Carrigallen Vocational School, Leitrim
  • Roscommon CBS
  • Moville Community College, Donegal
  • Presentation Secondary School, Thurles, Tipperary

Then, there’s the big one. The Tables show the best performing schools in each province over the last nine years, with Dublin even getting it’s own list.

Dublin:

  • Colaiste Iosagain, Stillorgan
  • Mount Anville School, Goatstown
  • St. Mary’s College, Rathmines
  • Blackrock College
  • Holy Child Secondary School, Killiney
  • Loreto High School, Beaufort, Rathfarnam
  • St. Michael’s College, Ailesbury Road
  • Gonzaga College, Ranelagh
  • Colaiste Eoin, Stillorgan
  • Catholic University School, Lower Leeson Street

Leinster (Excluding Dublin):

  • Newbridge College
  • St. Kieran’s College Kilkenny
  • Clongowes Wood College, Clane
  • St Gerard’s, Bray
  • Our Lady Bower, Athlone
  • Loreto Convent, Wexford
  • Kilkenny College
  • Loreto Convent, Kilkenny
  • St Peter’s College, Wexford
  • Dundalk Grammar School

Connacht:

  • Jesus & Mary Secondary School, Salthill
  • Colaiste Na Coiribe, Tuam Road
  • St Gerald’s College, Castlebar
  • Colaiste Iognaid, Galway
  • St. Joseph’s College, Nun’s Island, Galway
  • St. Joseph’s Secondary School, Castlebar
  • Ursuline College, Finisklin
  • Presentation College, Athenry
  • Calasanctius College, Oranmore
  • Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown

Munster:
