Time to break out the winter woolies.
It sounds like Jack Frost could make an appearance this week as Met Éireann has said that there’s a wintry change in the weather coming this week. Predicting that the start of the week will start off fresh and bright, forecasters expect temperatures to plummet come the middle of the week.
According to reports, today will be breezy with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers – developing into heavy showers and longer spells of rain overnight. Tomorrow promises to bring much of the same with frequent showers expected along the Irish Sea coasts.
Adding that “there will be lots of dry weather overall”, mean temperatures fall a little below average for this time of the year.
Here’s what’s in store for the rest of the week:
Wednesday
Scattered showers in the east and northeast but a “good deal of dry and bright weather overall1. Temperatures will reach 12 to 15 degrees during the day, with that plummeting to between 1 and 4 degrees and bringing a “touch of frost” overnight.
Thursday
Another cold start with some frost and fog. Thursday looks to be mainly dry with sunny spells throughout. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees with light northeasterly winds also possible. The weather will turn “quite cold” on Thursday night with frost forming across the country in sheltered areas.
Friday/Weekend
Friday will bring more dry and sunny conditions with only a few isolated showers. There is still “lots of uncertainty” regarding the weekend forecast, though Met Éireann has said that early indications suggest it will be breezy and showery.
Fingers crossed the rain holds off.
