A firefighter has been injured while attending the scene of a fire in Athy.
The incident took place at a housing estate on Canal Walk earlier today, with members of Kildare and Laois Fire Brigades being called to the blaze.
According to The Irish Independent, the unidentified member of the team was injured by a suspected gas explosion and rushed to Naas Hospital.

The firefighter’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
