BREAKING: Irish Couple On Honeymoon Separated During Greek Wildfires

An Irish couple on their honeymoon in Greece have been separated since the wildfires that swept through a resort town broke out.

The couple were separated when they fled from the blaze which broke out yesterday afternoon.

According to the Irish Times, the man is still missing while the woman is being treated for a serious burn injury in a Greek hospital.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it wouldn’t be a position to comment on individual cases but confirmed it was providing consular assistance to a number of people in Greece.

The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has declared a three-day national mourning period, saying the country is “going through an unspeakable tragedy”.
