BREAKING: Irish Man Shot Dead In Mexico In Car Jacking Incident

Sarah

A 29-year-old Irishman has been killed in Mexico following a shooting attack in the Lazaro Cardenas area in the State of Michoacán.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, reports The Irish Independent, and media reports say the man was travelling in a van with his partner and stopped at a gas station to ask for directions.

At least two men went up to the couple and tried to steal the woman’s bag. When the man attempted to come to her defense he was shot repeatedly, and the thieves then robbed the couple’s Ford pick-up-van.

Paramedics attended the scene but the man, who is from Louth, was later pronounced dead.

The Department of Foreign Affairs said it is aware of the case and is providing consular assistance.
