Two kite surfers who got into difficulty off the coast of Co. Louth this morning have been successfully rescued by Coast Guard and RNLI services.

Rescue crews responded to a Mayday call off the the coast of Blackrock at 10:20am, with Clogherhead RNLI confirming that Rescue 116, Greenore CG and Clogherhead Lifeboat all attended the scene.

Rescue crews have advised that people do not venture near the coast while the Met Éireann red status warning for Ophelia is in place.
The two surfers are now “on-shore, safe and well”.
