UPDATE 12:56pm One person has died after a tree fell on a car in West Waterford earlier this morning.

According to RTÉ, the woman who lost her life was in her 70s and was the sole occupant of the car, contrary to earlier reports which said there were two people in the car.

Two people are believed to be seriously injured after a tree fell on a car at Aglish in West Waterford, it has been reported.
Gusts of heavy wind are causing a lot of trees and cables to fall around the country with Hurricane Ophelia landing.
It is said that emergency services are currently at the scene in Aglish with two casualties believed to be trapped inside the vehicle.
