Daft.ie has released its latest rental report, and it makes for grim reading.

It won’t be a surprise to most of us but figures show that rent in Ireland is at its highest it’s ever been, rising 10% since 2008.

The average monthly rent in Ireland comes in €1,131 and Dublin is the most expensive in Ireland when it comes to finding a home.

Dublin rents have risen by 13.1%, with the average rent in the city centre now standing at €1,690. The West of the city is a little more affordable at €1,467, with the South coming in the most expensive at €1,868 per month.

Rents are consistently high across the country, with the cheapest found in Leitrim – at €517 a month.

Along with Leitrim, the cheapest places to rent in Ireland also include Longford, Donegal and Roscommon, at €572, €593 and €595 respectively.

It looks like it’s not going to get much easier to find a decent place as the report revealed that while rent has increased dramatically, the number of properties available to rent is at its lowest with only 3,100 available.
