A photo of Brendan Grace has just been unveiled on Shannon Airport’s wall of fame, honouring one of his final wishes.
The late Irish comedy star passed away in July and his family attended the unveiling of his portrait at the airport this week, which Grace himself had been planning since earlier this year.
Grace’s wife Eileen was joined by her daughter Amanda, son-in-law Frank and grandson James at Shannon.
Eileen noted that it “was just such a source of pride for him that he was going to be included among all those famous faces”.

Eileen said, “Brendan loved Shannon Airport. He travelled through here for five decades.
“He just loved the convenience and warmth of it. It was, in fact, one of the reasons that got us to come and live in Killaloe.”
She added, “It was one of the things he wanted to do and we are delighted today that we have finished the task but so sad that he wasn’t here with us.”

Shannon’s wall of fame includes over 80 photos of famous celebrities, politicians and royalty from around the world who have passed through the airport over the years.
A mural of Grace also recently appeared in the Liberties in Dublin ahead of his funeral, which was painted by artist Fink.art. Brendan’s wife Eileen and their son Brendan Patrick went to visit it shortly after it went up.
