Centra and Supervalu Are Going Green With New Compostable Coffee Cups

Jen

No need to feel guilty about your takeaway coffees anymore.

From September, every takeaway Frank and Honest coffee cup and lid bought in Supervalu and Centra will be fully biodegradable.

Musgraves, the company behind the two stores, has decided to make the change which has the potential to divert millions of coffee cups from landfills annually.

The new compostable cups and lids will be made from plant-based materials and can be organically recycled in the brown food waste bin and commercially composted locally in Ireland in less than 12 weeks.

The introduction of the new cups will create 20 new Irish jobs by CupPrint and Down2Earth Materials.

Television and radio presenter, Angela Scanlon, has partnered with Frank and Honest to launch the new initiative. It’s more important than ever that we take care of our environment and move towards a more sustainable future. It sometimes seems like such a massive job but by changing little things daily we can all make a positive impact and the obligatory morning coffee feels like a good place to start!”

Frank and Honest is available in SuperValu and Centra stores in over 560 locations nationwide.

Fair play, lads.
