An Taoiseach Micheál Martin will deliver a statement next that is expected to include details of the future of air travel as well as live entertainment and sport.
Speaking to a Fianna Fáil parliamentary party meeting, Martin said that the announcement will outline the next phase of reopening in June and July. It will include plans for the future of hotel quarantine and details on the return of live sport and entertainment.
Martin spoke of the need “support tourism, the economy and further growth” and added that “plans for the EU’s digital green certificate and progress in the State’s vaccination programme were factors that will support the return of international travel.”
Covid-19 measures have been eased throughout May, with non-essential retail the latest sector to reopen. The easing of restrictions has been laid out until June 7, when outdoor services in bars and restaurants can recommence. More information can be found here.
