Of all the bizarre stories to come out about Conor McGregor in recent times, this one ranks somewhere in the middle.
The MMA star has become embroiled in a dispute with Estée Lauder’s make-up brand MAC over his application to trademark the nickname ‘Mystic Mac’.
According to the Irish Independent, McGregor’s application to the European Union Intellectual Property Office has been opposed by Make Up Cosmetics (MAC). The company’s reasoning is that ‘there exists a likelihood of confusion on the part of the public’ if the brand was applied to toiletries. German firm Mac Jeans has also opposed the application.
‘Mystic Mac’ is a self-imposed monicker which McGregor came up with in reference to how he has successfully predicted how his UFC fights will go during his career.
