Much of Midleton suffered serious flooding as a result of the storm.

If you’ve been anywhere near the internet over the last two days, you will no doubt have seen the devastating photos and videos of the extensive damage done by Storm Babet, in Midleton specifically, that have been circulating.

Cork bakery The Grumpy Bakers took to socials to lament the damage to their property, with a candid caption to accompany the images that showed their shop submerged in water.

The Grumpy Bakers’ caption read as such:

“Devastated today, so much love has gone into this little building over the last few years, finding our bakery like this today is heart breaking. Thanks so much to everyone for your kind words and support, we feel so blessed to be surrounded by such incredible people ? our thoughts are with all the residents and businesses in midleton this morning… we are assessing damage and getting stuck in this morn, no better town to bounce back ? we will be doing our very best to get back in action as soon as we can ?”

Locals and fans of the bakery took to the comments to send their well wishes; one Instagram user said, “Thinking of you all in our town. It’s devastating for all the businesses & homes in the area. Hope there was not too much damage caused” while another commented: “Best bakery in the world! Hope you are back up and running again in no time.”

We hope they get back on their feet as soon as possible.
