The early Christmas Day weather forecast is here and it looks like a frosty one

In a world where sharing a cramped house with people can have serious health effects, getting outside this Christmas Day will be more important than ever.

Which is why many people will be keeping a close eye on Met Éireann’s updates in the coming days as we get closer to Christmas. Even though we’re seven days out, the weather experts have limited information on how things will look on the 25th. Their early forecast reads that ‘at the moment, Christmas Day looks like being a cold and mainly dry day with some bright spells, but with the possibility of rain developing in the west later.’

Before that, ‘Christmas Eve will be cold with sunny spells and a good deal of dry weather, but a few showers also. Highest temperatures of 4 to 7 degrees with light to moderate northwest breezes. It looks like there’ll be frost on Christmas Eve night.’

Currently, it looks like that’s about as white as Christmas is going to get this year. Earlier, the Gardaí and the HSE issued a statement asking people not to visit popular swimming locations like the Forty Foot this Christmas. A statement said that this ‘is being advised in the spirit of ensuring safety for all our families and friends.’
