Port of Cork officials activated their emergency plan this morning after a major fire broke out at one of the nearby buildings.

Locals down in Rebel County are being warned against a major fire at Cork Port this morning with authorities advising people to close all windows and stay indoors until the blaze is under control.

Breaking out at a building on the Ringaskiddy Deepwater Berth, it's believed that the fire started at the R&H Hall grain store for animal feed. Confirming that emergency services are on-site and that the Port Emergency plan has been activated, Port of Cork officials have been keeping the public updated via social media.

Photo/video footage shared to Twitter shows huge amounts of smoke billowing from the area and locals are being advised to stay indoors and keep all windows and doors closed while firefighters work to tackle the blaze.
