Deputy First Minister, Martin McGuinness, is urging the dire need for the EU to grant Northern Ireland associate or membership status, in an attempt to avoid Brexit consequences for Nothern Irish residents.
According to The Irish Times, McGuinness said that “as things sit at the moment we are going to suffer big time”.
“As we are concerned Brexit means disaster for the people of Ireland.”

McGuinness has support from Taoiseach Enda Kenny in this proposal.
Kenny has pledged that he will argue strongly at European level for a membership or association for Northern Ireland when post-Brexit discussions between the EU and the UK commence.
