It was confirmed on Tuesday night that a ticket bought in Ireland had won the mega EuroMillions jackpot of a life-changing €17 million.
This is the first EuroMillions jackpot won in Ireland in 2018 and the 13th Irish win since the EuroMillions began in 2004.
A National Lottery spokesperson appealed to players all over the country to check their tickets to see if they have won this monster amount of money.
The winning numbers are: 9, 15, 22, 39, 46 and the Lucky Stars are 4 and 5.
The spokesperson said: “This is amazing news! What a great start to the summer for this lucky ticketholder. We are asking all our players to check their tickets carefully to see if they are the lucky winner or winners.
If they are, we encourage them to sign the back of the ticket, keep it safe and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims team on 01 836 4444. We are open from 9.15am tomorrow morning and we will make arrangements for you to collect this unbelievable prize”.
Eason in Thurles shopping Centre in Co. Tipperary has been confirmed as the shop in Ireland that sold the winning jackpot ticket – just eight months after selling a €7.5 million Lotto winner!
The National Lottery confirmed today that the winning EuroMillions Quick Pick ticket was sold in Eason’s – and that contact has been made from a syndicate following the mega win.
An ecstatic owner of Eason in Thurles, Tom O’Toole, said: “We are in shock! We can’t quite believe that we have sold two massive jackpot winning tickets in quick succession.
We are only recovering after selling a €7.5 million Lotto jackpot winning ticket last October. Never in our wildest dreams did we imagine we would be selling a €17 million EuroMillions ticket so soon after.”
“We have had a lot of people buying lottery tickets since our win in October. And we also saw an increase in Scratch Card sales of around 20 per cent. After this we may be known as the luckiest shop in Ireland. It is fantastic for Thurles and we wish the winners all the best of luck with this massive win.”
Get checking those tickets, folks.
