Farming Couple Find €500,000 EuroMillions Ticket In Their Car After Not Noticing It For Seven Weeks

Sarah

A farming couple from the Midlands have won €500,000 in the EuroMillions after they discovered a forgotten ticket in the car while searching for loose change for a parking meter.

The Irish Examiner reports that the couple had been driving around with the gold-dust ticket in their car for seven weeks.

“I was desperately looking for coins to fill the meter when I spotted four Lottery tickets stuffed with rubbish in the side pocket of the driver’s door. I thought I better bring them into the shop to get them scanned, just in case. I could not believe my luck when I was told to ring the National Lottery office that I had won a significant amount!” the wife said.

They purchased the lucky Quick Pick ticket from the Gandon Service Station in Emo, Portlaoise, Co. Laois.

“We are farmers and it is a hard graft. Like so many people we have had a tough time financially in recent years so this is a great win and will take the pressure off” they added.

A National Lottery spokesperson has advised people to put their tickets in a safe place and always check the numbers, because you only have 90 days to claim after a draw.
