11 Key Tips To Help Get Rid Of Your Monster St Patrick’s Day Hangover

The three day long weekend mixed with parades, rugby and plenty of parties was fun while it lasted, but now you have to deal with the consequences. 

The dreaded hangover of death that has descended like a fog over every inch of your body. 

Fear not though, because although we aren’t doctors, we do have some pretty valuable information that will get you back on track in no time. It’s time to face this head on and tackle the problem. 

Work your way through as many of these on the list as you possibly can and thank us later.

1. Lemon

Helps change the pH levels in your body which will help you get rid of headaches. 

Ideal way to take it on board is by squeezing a couple of fresh lemons into a pint of water. Glug, glug.

2. Tomato juice 

The glucose in tomato juice is exactly the type of sugar you need to be getting back into the body. The trick here is not to have a Bloody Mary, though, which involves even more alcohol.

3. Ginger 

Long-known to have healing properties especially when it comes to nausea and vomiting. 

Boil some fresh ginger up in water and make into a tea. Sip it throughout the day and you’ll be right as rain.

4. Sports drinks

Not just for elite athletes as they’ll also be useful for you on your couch. Release carbohydrates slowly to help you get back on your feet. Look out for drinks that contain electrolytes, these are a plus.

5. Avoid coffee

While it might be your go-to drink in the mornings — avoid at all costs when hungover as it will exaggerate your symptoms by increasing your heart rate and will make you even more dehydrated.

6. Eat eggs

The reason your body craves brunch after a big night is that eggs contain cysteine which is the substance that helps break down toxin acetaldehyde in the liver’s easily depleted glutathione.

7. Sleep

We know that we feel much better after lots of sleep so get as much of it as you can. Athletes are told to rest and trained to sleep better so take that advice on board and get a nap or go to bed as early as you can. Nothing will work better than sleep.

8. Find coconut water or bananas

With the hangover what the body is missing and needs most if potassium. You’ll find that in coconuts (hard to find fresh when you are hungover). Best bet is to get some coconut water and a banana which are both packed with them.

9. Take vitamin supplements 

Your body has been put through a lot of damage while drinking so help it along the way with some extra vitamins. Vitamin C is a good place to start mixed with water.

10. Have sex

As long as you have a partner to do this with it can be a way of making you feel better because of the endorphins it releases in the brain.

11. Water

When you drink alcohol you are pushing water out of the body and causing serious dehydration. Everybody has a glass when they wake up and that is the body screaming for more. Drink 8-10 glasses on the morning alone to get the body what it needs.
