It was yesterday announced that Canadian police had called off their search for missing Irishman and Mayo GAA star David Gavin.

The 26-year-old has been missing since Friday afternoon and was last seen diving off a bridge over the Beaver River in British Columbia.

The search was called off on Tuesday after efforts by British Columbia police's Underwater Recovery Team and Air Services unit failed to find any trace of the missing man using underwater dives and flyovers of the river and nearby Kinbasket Lake.

Friends of David's have gotten in touch with us appealing for donations to help his family fund a private search and assist with extensive expenses involved in locating David and returning him home.

Donations can be made here through:

Every little helps.

Thoughts and prayers are with David's friends and family during this hugely difficult time.
