A fundraiser has been set up to support those affected by the explosion in Creeslough.
A Donegal man living in Australia has launched the fundraiser to help the families of the deceased as well as the injured.
Gerard McFadden confirmed that all funds raised will be donated to the victims’ families as well as the injured. At the time of writing over 250,000 had been raised so far, for more information and to donate click here.
“The funds raised will go directly to assisting the families of the victims and those whom have been injured as a result of the horrific accident last Friday, ” McFadden wrote, adding that “I will liaise will the Creeslough Community Association and discuss the needs of the community as we move through this awful time together.”
An Post has also set up a Creeslough Community Support Fund that is now operational at post offices nationwide, with donations supporting the Irish Red Cross. In a statement, a representative from An Post, said, “the An Post board, management, and staff across Ireland send their deepest sympathies, thoughts, and prayers to all those who have lost loved ones in the Cresslough tragedy, to those who are injured, to the Postmistress and Post Office staff and all the Creeslough community.”

The small community of Creeslough was rocked on October 7, when a blast occurred at the Applegreen Service Station in the Donegal village.
At a briefing on Saturday afternoon, Gardaí confirmed that there have been 10 fatalities as a result of the explosion.
An Garda Síochána confirmed the identities of the victims on October 9th, they have been named as James O Flaherty, 48 years, Jessica Gallagher, 24 years, Martin McGill, 49 years, Catherine O Donnell, 39 years, and her son James Monaghan, 13 years, Hugh Kelly, 59 years, Martina Martin, 49 years, Robert Garwe, 50 years and his daughter Shauna Flanagan Garwe, 5 years and Leona Harper, 14 years.
During the briefing, Chief Ambulance Officer with HSE West JJ McGowan said that eight patients were transported from the scene on Friday, one of whom was in critical condition and further taken to a hospital in Dublin.
He stated that the other seven patients remain in stable condition at this time.
Meanwhile, Superintendent David Kelly of Milford Garda Station told the briefing:
“We have to keep an open mind as a police service in how we investigate this but our information at this point in time is pointing towards a tragic accident.
“That said, being a Garda, I have to take a holistic and overall viewpoint but that’s where we’re going at the moment.”
