Gardaí appealing for public help to reunite 32 stolen dogs with owners

Gardaí are asking for the public's help in trying to reunite 32 seized dogs with their owners. According to a post shared to the official Garda Instagram page, the dogs were confiscated following searches in Swords over the weekend. Believed to be stolen, Gardaí have recovered three Chihuahuas, four Pugs, one Jack Russel and 24 Dachshunds - estimating the total monetary value of the dogs at over €120,000. https://www.instagram.com/p/CEOnwoDHNVE/ The dogs are currently being cared for at  Ashtown Pound, however, Gardaí are keen to return the stolen pups to their owners as soon as possible. This comes after a good news story not too long ago when two eight-year-old golden cocker spaniel sisters, Topsy and Turvy, were reunited with their family after several weeks apart. Slightly worse for wear - Topsy had a small wound where someone possibly tried too cut her microchip out - the dogs' family is one of the lucky few to have both pets returned home. A guide shared by the Gardaí has advised dog owners to ensure that their pet is microchipped and to avoid leaving their animal tied up outside shops as it "creates an ideal opportunity for thieves". Other advice included in the guide encourages people to keep their dog within sight, to only buy from reputable sources and to consider investing in CCTV at their homes.
