Gardaí are warning the public about a new scam that is currently doing the rounds.

This telephone scam involves a male or female caller claiming to be from Revenue seeking immediate payment of a tax bill over the phone.

RTÉ journalist Fran McNulty shared the following warning from An Garda Síochána:

Be wary and never share your debit or credit card details, PPS number or bank account details with anyone who tries to contact you over the phone.

If you think you've been contacted by these scammers call and report the incident to Gardaí at any station or call the Garda Confidential line on 1800-666-111.
