Gardai have issued a warning ahead of dangerous weather conditions across the country tonight and tomorrow.
Temperatures are set to plummet as low as -8°C, with heavy snowfall on the way.
There is a Status Orange snow-ice warning in place for Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Tipperary.
Gardai have warned members of the public to be extremely careful when travelling and avoid unnecessary journeys.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Finn, Roads Policing said: “Please be aware that visibility is reduced in snowy conditions so drive slowly if you need to make a journey.
“Allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front. Motorcyclists/cyclists should not compromise their safety by their ‘need’ to travel in icy/snowy conditions. Be safe.”
The Orange weather warning comes into effect at 11pm tonight and lasts for 24 hours.
