He has been sentenced to six years in prison.
A former Ros na Rún actor has been sentenced to six years in prison for the alleged oral raping of a woman, who was 20-years-old at the time, in Galway.
RTÉ's Crime Correspondent, Paul Reynolds, confirmed the news on Monday morning.
Garrett Phillips, a native of Galway, spotted a girl crying and offered to bring her home in late 2015.
The girl in question, fell asleep in Phillips' van after the pair agreed to go to an area which showed an overview of the city lights.
When she woke up, the actor and singer was exposed and standing over her and allegedly had his penis in her mouth.
Phillips had pleaded not guilty to the offence and was still appearing on stage in London in the run up to his trial.
He still claims that the act was consensual.
Galway Bay FM reported two months ago that the Former Ros na Rún actor - who recently played the role of Frank Sinatra on the West End in Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas - was originally convicted in April but reporting restrictions on the case were only lifted on in the middle of May.
