A former Ros na Rún actor who was sentenced to six years in prison for the alleged oral raping of a woman, who was 20-years-old at the time, in Galway has been given a further 11 months in jail.

Soap Star Garrett Phillips failed to register as a sex offender while he was on bail awaiting sentencing in July.

Phillips was allowed out on bail at the time as long as he signed into his local Garda station in Galway three times a week.

He failed to place himself on the Sex Offender’s Register until May despite his conviction in April.

He received a six-year prison sentence in July and is expected to serve just over four and a half years of the sentence.

Phillips, a native of Galway, spotted a girl crying and offered to bring her home in late 2015.

The girl in question, fell asleep in Phillips’ van after the pair agreed to go to an area which showed an overview of the city lights.

When she woke up, the actor and singer was exposed and standing over her and allegedly had his penis in her mouth.

Phillips had pleaded not guilty to the offence and was still appearing on stage in London in the run up to his trial.

He still claims that the act was consensual.

Galway Bay FM reported that the Former Ros na Rún actor – who recently played the role of Frank Sinatra on the West End in Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas – was originally convicted in April but reporting restrictions on the case were only lifted on in the middle of May.
