Gerry Adams Has Announced His Next Move And Nobody Saw It Coming

James Fenton

Say what you want about him but Gerry Adams will feature prominently when the history of late 20th/early 21st Ireland is written.

The former Sinn Féin leader has been keeping busy since his retirement earlier this year and has now announced that his next move will be into the world of writing cookbooks. Because obviously.

Speaking at the Féile an Phobail event in Belfast on Monday night, Adams said that the publication called The Negotiators’ Cook Book will be available in time for Christmas and will feature recipes which kept his political allies going through long nights of talks over the years.

According to the Irish Times, Adams said:

“The British never fed us. They never had any food. But as intrepid republicans and being blessed by one or two great cooks these are the recipes that sustained the Irish negotiating team.

“It contains some of the best-kept secrets of the Irish peace process.”

That’s the Christmas presents sorted for this year.
