Westlife's Shane Filan has paid a touching tribute to his father Peter, who passed away on Sunday.
Shane Filan took to Instagram on Monday evening to share the news with his followers. It comes
ten months after he lost his mother Mae and on Monday he wrote: 'yesterday, Sunday October 4, my heart was broken. I lost the most important man in my entire life, my dad Peter.
'He was my best friend, my guidance through life and an absolutely amazing father. He was my hero.'
The Sligo native added that Peter 'died peacefully in his sleep in the amazing care of the medical team of St. Vincent's Hospital and my brother Peter.
Filan went on to thank staff at St. Vincent's for 'the incredible care they gave him over the last year' as well as Westlife fans around the world for their 'lovely, kind messages at this sad time.'

He also invited followers to make a small donation to
CancerTrials.ie before closing by saying 'he was one of a kind and will now be reunited with the love of his life, my mum Mae. Together forever.'
It's clear that both parents were cherished very much. RIP Peter and Mae.
